The new President of the most powerful country in the world is a compulsive liar attempting to reduce the United States to a totalitarian state.
I studied critical thinking and argumentation in college, but I can’t parse Extreme Stupid. So forgive me if I get Lamia’s argument and conclusion wrong, but I think they run like this:
Hey, liberal poopyheads, The American Spectator tells me that at one of the worldwide marches protesting Trump, one of the speakers once committed a horrible crime! And one of the organizers is an idiot!
Therefore, all those people were wasting their time. Also too, liberals support Bad People. QED.
Hey Lamia, All I know about Donna Hylton is what I’ve googled in the last 20 min. She was party to a horrific crime and served 27 years for that. Don’t Conservatives preach that people who commit horrific crimes should go to jail for a long time to teach them a lesson?
It seems in this case, rather than coming out of jail as a hardened criminal and promptly turning to drugs, prostitution and maybe more torture and murder, Hylton has instead got an education. What bugs you more, that she has turned her life around and is now seeking to make a positive impact with her life, that she didn’t get the death penalty, or that somehow she didn’t end up dying in a gutter post-prison?
Seems to me you should be applauding her and the system that (apparently) saved her. Me, I’ll note that it’s an interesting choice for a speaker at such an event and I’ll do a bit more digging. otherwise, judgement suspended pending FACTS.
“She was party to a horrific crime and served 27 years for that. Don’t Conservatives preach that people who commit horrific crimes should go to jail for a long time to teach them a lesson?”
Stop making assumptions and ask a conservative. I don’t consider 27 years adequate for what she did. She should have remained in prison until death.

The fact that (1) having got out she lacks the human decency to live in quiet shame for her evil, and instead touts herself and (2) she is welcomed, as some kind of humanitarian to speak against violence.
“she has turned her life around”
How nice for her that unlike the man she murdered she actually has a life to turn around. How convenient for you to forget about him. Hylton doesn’t deserve to be alive.
@ Lady Mondegreen:
“So forgive me if I get Lamia’s argument and conclusion wrong,”
You did. You assumed I am really talking about Donald Trump, when I didn’t even mention him. My post was about my disgust at self described ‘human rights’ advocates who laud an evil monster like Hylton. If you can only give a shit about grotesque inhumane hypocrisy if its coming from your opponent’s side, then you are the poorer for it.
2. If I was I would have voted for Bernie Saunders because the alternatives were dreadful.
And for re-iteration:
The defensive responses and motivist accusations (that I can only be bringing this up because I’m a Trump supporter/conservative) illustrate why the liberal-left is in such a hole. You ought, as decent human beings, to be horrified by the fact that Hylton was put on the platform for this. You ought, as intelligent human beings, to be able to see how badly it reflects on the women’s movement.
But you just can’t, can you? Because whaddabout Trump, or something.
Meanwhile plenty of other people ARE horrified and CAN see how bad this looks. Enjoy sitting in your pure little box with your fingers in your ears.

Okey dokey then.

I don’t know enough about Hylton to have an opinion about her honesty or her motivations, but even if I agreed with you that it was “horrific” to put on a platform, I’d find it a reflection on the organizers who put her there, not the women’s movement as a whole.

And I still do. Not because you brought it up; I dislike Sarsour myself, and there was another speaker at one of the marches I find objectionable. Anyone might reasonably bring it up; that’s not why I assume motivation. Along with the fact that, as I said, the Right are chattering about Hylton in an obvious attempt to discredit the marches, your “gotcha” attitude is very clear.
I can’t know for sure, obviously, but I don’t believe a word you’ve said about yourself.
This is ridiculous. The original question was simply absurd. Why should I have any “thoughts on the Women’s March speaker Donna Hylton”? What’s the point of asking me that on a post that mocks Trump? The point is a gotcha, that’s all, and it’s a stupid one – I’d never heard of her before and I had nothing to do with deciding who got to speak at any of the hundreds (or thousands?) of marches all over the world. The question is a complete and utter derail. I’m not interested in hearing any more from “Lamia.”
Any thoughts on the Women’s March speaker Donna Hylton?
Only ‘liberals’ could put on a platform as a ‘human rights activist’ someone who kidnapped, tortured, raped and finally murdered another human being.
Oh, and she did it for money so that she could launch a modelling career. Great role model!
Add in Sharia promoter Linda Sarsour and really, what was the point again?
