Unraveling
John McCain has withdrawn his endorsement of Donald Trump. Notably, McCain explains his decision not by criticizing the language or tone the Trump used in the Washington Post video, but by citing the conduct Trump was describing. McCain does not shy away from calling that conduct “sexual assault.” Here’s McCain’s full statement, which also mentions Trump’s attacks on Judge Curiel, the Khan family, and the Central Park Five:
Notice how ol’ Johnboy waited until *after* he’d won his primary (which might well be his last) for this volt-face. I’ll take it, sure, but only inasmuch as it might actually hurt Trump; McCain is still a sniveling coward.
Yes, notice how his moral compass permitted him to endorse Donald in the first place, whereas Hillary was and still is not even a remote possibility. He makes a fine grandstanding statement, but it remains to his discredit that he made the endorsement in the first place despite having ample evidence that Donald is a walking turd.
Special mention must go to Ted Cruz, who made a bold stand in opposing Donald until caving in to tribalism only a week or so ago. If the spineless twit had held out for just a few more days, he would be smelling of roses now.
John Kasich is apparently going around saying, “Nyah, nyah, told ya so! Told ya so!”
Bonus points, of course, for insisting that ONLY Donald Trump (ie, not anyone else in the party that foisted him upon us despite the fact that ALL of this was self-evident before he even stepped onto the RNC debate stage with the other 9 demagogues) should suffer the consequences for his actions.
