The reputation that Mr Trump has already created for himself
The LA Times shares the letter a lawyer for the NY Times sent in response to a “shut up” letter from Trump’s lawyer.
Team Trump told the Times (the NY one from here on) to remove the story from their website and say they were sorry. They decline to do so.
The essence of a libel claim, of course, is the protection of one’s reputation.
Then a partial list of all the ways Trump has trashed his own reputation, starting with the fact that he has “bragged about his non-consensual sexual touching of women.”
Nothing in our article has had the slightest effect on the reputation that Mr. Trump, through his own words and actions, has already created for himself.
Hard to answer, innit. If you go around saying you did X, you won’t have much success claiming it’s libel to say you did the X you say you did.
Beautiful. Reminds me of Mr Popehat, Esq., somehow.
