Okay, I just made the grave mistake of reading both this article http://the-orbit.net/literateperversions/why-i-never-have-been-and-never-will-be-charlie/ by Chris Hall and its comments and I just can’t believe it. This unbearable smugness and sense of superiority. This gross mean-spiritedness coupled with the belief in their own ultimate virtuousness. Is there anything they’re not accusing you of being in an article that’s not even about you? And then they have the gall to bitch about Anjuli Pandavar, one of the new FTBloggers, an ex-muslim women, while referring to her as “they” and “this person” and “that blogger”, and accuse her of racism. Wow. How original. Oh, I could puke.
Yeh, a friend pointed that out to me yesterday. They’re not at all shy about lying, are they – accusing me of “anti-Muslim rants” (find just one) and being “anti-sex worker”…and then just plain calling me racist and xenophobic. Nice crowd.
Chris Hall’s reply to one comment probably takes the prize though for this little gem of high school malice:
Actually, there were a lot of things about Ophelia that bugged me — and a lot of the bloggers at FTB — before the transphobia issue started to blow up.
“We all hated you the whole time! Everybody said you were ugly and stupid and smelled!! Nyah!!”

Gotta love that “and a lot of the bloggers at FTB.” Craven appeal to argumentum ad populam, there. Just what you’d expect from a blog collective that requires consensus before one of its members can wipe his own ass.
Yes, but much more it’s that school lunch table thing – “We all hate you and we always have, everybody hates you, did you hear me, EVERYBODY.” Chris Hall wanted to make sure to say that a lot of my former colleagues hated me all along.
Mind you, it occurs to me that he was never actually a blogger at FTB himself, and that that was probably for reasons.
Yes Ophelia, but he was there to say how sad it was that feminists didn’t spend more time discussing how bad the patriarchy was – for men….
Still, to be charitable, that was 2014. I’m sure Chris would now want feminists to spend more time discussing how harmful the patriarchy was for men, non-men, non-binaries, asexuals and anyone else except for women, because talking about how women are affected by patriarchy would be awfully exclusive. In other words, no real change but a lot of additional hat-tips.
I also love the way he say Heina has destroyed the myth that being anti-islamic is not racist, on the basis that so many people treat all muslims as if they are arab. QED racist. Holy shit. Talk about weak sauce. The ignorance of a subset of people is conclusive proof that black is really white. We don’t all live in a Fox News bubble.
Where’s the “like” button?
Oh, gollly, that is a thing of beauty.
But the coffee through my nose sure was unwelcome.
:D

Peak social justice.
Dishonest. Because that’s just the quality of people they are.

Huh. Chris Hall polluted himself by commenting repeatedly on my blog.
