From lily white Christianist Americans
Jim Wright has an eloquent denunciation of the lying ways of people like Michele Bachmann and outlets like The Daily Caller.
ou know, for somebody who loudly and routinely claims to be such a pious Christian, she sure missed the boat on that whole “Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor…” rule.
First, The Daily Caller?
Seriously? The Daily Caller? You should be slapped upside the head repeatedly for using the The Daily Caller as any kind of reference. It’s true! I read it on The Daily Ca <SLAP!> No really it’s <SLAP!> But <SLAP! SLAP! SLAP! AND SHUT THE FUCK UP and SLAP! for good measure> The Daily Caller, Jesus H Christ.
That said, the article she references is just a bunch of random information cobbled together in no particular coherence supposedly describing how 31 ISIS terrorists have been arrested in the US in the last year — except none of the information provided actually supports the headline in any way. Which is pretty goddamned typical of The Daily Caller where the standard editorial technique is to post an inflammatory headline and smear dog shit in the space under it. And this works, because those who use The Daily Caller as a reference can’t actually read anyway.
The headline is: 31 Suspected ISIS Terrorists Have Been Arrested In The U.S. In The Past Year. Sure enough, the article doesn’t demonstrate that.
Jim Wright sums up:
This hysterical, frightened, hateful, bigoted, ignorant, delusional, backward, shameful, false, ridiculous mindset from lily white Christianist Americans is a FAR, FAR, FAR greater threat to liberty, freedom, and America than any immigrant.
Yes but they’re our threat to liberty, freedom, and America.
Bob Garfield did an interview with a head honcho from The Daily Caller about the Kahn-Trump fizzywig, which was part of the most recent On The Media. Barf-tastic. Turd-a-licious. Vomitrocious. Garfield tried, without success, to get this crap-tacular person to admit to anything, *anything*, on their sputum site that might have a whiff of political bias. I almost believe the little shit believes what he said. Double-fucking-pukethink.
Oh, dear. The above may come across as a smidgen angry.
Even if it was a fact, so what?
Say three guys buy some guns and ship them to their cousins in Syria. Dure, it’s just 4 guns and 6 boxes of ammo, but we’d better arrest them, they could be part of a gun smuggling organization.
Well, no. Turns out their cousins live in a town that Isis has been moving towards, and two of their cousins have government jobs and two other cousins are women, and the family wanted to send them some do-it-yourself home protection. Also turns out one of the men we arrested went Christian because he met this girl, see…
They are released with a caution about not shipping guns out of America again. End of story for almost 10% right there.
A 4th suspect, arrested in rural Tennessee for buying explosives, turned out to be add stump removal to his landscaping business.
A 5th one was a woman detained for trying to board an airplane while being visibly Arabic and objecting to the racism of the security officers. Turns out she’s the principal of a school heading to an education conference.
A man was driving while black, and then his driver’s license had a Muslim name. He looked at the officer funny, so he was arrested. He had the blueprints for a building, so he was probably a terrorist. Except, it turned out the building wan’t built yet, he is the architect.
And so on. It’s a big, racist, paranoid country. 31 arrests on suspicion of terrorism could happen without netting one terrorist.
clamboy – yes, I heard that interview too. I had the feeling that Garfield never expected to be able to get the guy to admit anything, and was giving him the opportunity to display the weasel technique.
