Des dizaines de morts
A lorry has struck a crowd after Bastille Day celebrations in the southern French city of Nice, killing at least 70 people, officials are quoted as saying by local media.
It happened on the famous Promenade des Anglais after a firework display. The driver was “neutralised”, and guns and grenades were found inside the lorry.
One image on Twitter showed about a dozen people lying on the street.
The BBC’s live page now says AFP says the death toll is 75.
Terrorism expert Claude Moniquet say it is “pretty clear” the incident in Nice was a terror attack. He says the idea was “clearly” to wait until the end of the Euro 2016 football tournament to launch the attack.
He says there has been no official confirmation of guns or grenades being found in the truck, but if those reports prove to be true, it would indicate a “more elaborate” and “more professional” plot.
Again again again.
Followed soon, if not already, by increased anti-muslim sentiment.
Gee, I wonder what religion has Nothing To Do With It…AGAIN.
The increased anti-Muslim sentiment is of course a major part of the goal. It’s all good for the holy war.
On a celebration of the people’s revolt against tyranny.

Yes, indeed, these attacks are all about Islam. Terrorism is intrinsic to Islam, it served the ideology very well.
Any naive Kuffar who takes comfort in the ‘tiny minority of extremist’ propaganda line should consult the Pew surveys on Muslims’ attitudes to democracy, terror and Sharia. The chaos, oppression and brutality of contemporary majority Muslim societies surely are indicative of the nature of the ideology.
The ‘religion of peace’ is the religion of war.
One answer to the question as to why France has been the victim of so many jihadi atrocities is that the country has a very large Muslim community. Good luck to all those ‘beleaguered reformist Muslims’, they’re an endangered species.
RJW, while islam is certainly closer to its bronze age roots than christianity, I think the record shows that the mojority are indeed quite peaceful. The French muslim population is about 5 million, and how many have gone rogue?

France is the former colonial power that controlled Syria. There are historical reasons for Syrian Islamists to single France out in particular as a “crusader” nation.
Having said that, the Nice attacker was from Tunisia and apparently was not a particularly devout Muslim.

Yes, these reports often appear after an atrocity, “he seemed just a normal young man, he liked partying, drinking alcohol and generally didn’t seem religious” —-until he suddenly became religious, joined the jihad and decided to kill Kuffars. Of course their families and friends had absolutely no idea.
I’ve noticed that these ‘mentally disturbed’ individuals don’t, as a rule, don’t go to the local mosque and massacre the worshippers there, they target non-Muslims. There are ‘historical reasons’ for jihadis to target France that have origins in the 7th century not the 19th.

“….how many have gone rogue”
I’d agree, ‘not many’. However that’s not the point, even the few that ‘go rogue’ have a devastating effect, it’s a security issue, not an exercise in PR. The percentage of Muslims who have views that are inimical to liberal democracy is another disturbing question. Either the French security services are remarkably inept or they’re not receiving intelligence from the Muslim community.
…how many have gone rogue”
Depends on what you mean by *rogue*
I would say that many who have willingly self-segregated into no-go zones, utterly rejecting their ‘adopted’ country, could be said to have gone rogue. These zones are morphing into parallel societies whose inhabitants eschew any and all forms of integration. The talk about alienation and marginalization as root causes is just so much twaddle. They reject France
When you venture Into the Molenbeek area of Brussels, for example, it’s hard to believe you’re still in Europe.
