Citizen Khan
I want to send a clear message to every European resident living in London – you are very welcome here. As a city, we are grateful for the enormous contribution you make, and that will not change as a result of this referendum.
There are nearly one million European citizens living in London today, and they bring huge benefits to our city – working hard, paying taxes, working in our public services and contributing to our civic and cultural life.
We all have a responsibility to now seek to heal the divisions that have emerged throughout this campaign – and to focus on what unites us, rather than that which divides us.
To every European resident here at #Pride2016 and across our amazing city – you are welcome here.
So Mr Khan finds that legitimate exercises in democracy are divisive and make people uneasy?
Knowing what I know about Mr Khan’s Islamist background, I wouldn’t give too much credence to anything he says
Are you trolling, John?
What was legitimate about the lies the leave campaign made, and backtracked on immediately upon winning?
John seems to think that if something is democratic then it can’t be divisive or in any way bad. This indicates either incredible stupidity or incredible ignorance of history, maybe both.
Since the referendum is dividing the UK from the EU, Scotland from England, Cornwall from 500 million euros of regional development funding, etc., etc., the term “divisive” seems to be putting it mildly, if anything. But John will doubtless continue with his well-worn routine where any objection to a particular outcome is somehow a horrifying attack on the concept of democracy itself. Fuck off, John.
Mr. Khan was elected mayor of London, but John apparently feels uneasy about that particular legitimate exercise in democracy.
If you haven’t seen the TV show Citizen Khan, give it a go.
I have seen some excerpts.
