A thought-out, planned attack
From Deutsche Welle on January 10:
Germany’s Justice Minister Heiko Maas was the latest high-profile politician to speak out about the string of sexual assaults in Cologne on Sunday. In an interview with the popular “Bild am Sonntag” newspaper, Maas voiced his suspicions that the crimes which have the whole country reeling were not the result of an opportunistic mob mentality but a thought-out, planned attack on the city’s women.
“No one can tell me that it wasn’t coordinated and prepared,” the minister said. “My suspicion is that this specific date was picked, and a certain number of people expected. This would again add another dimension [to the crimes].”
The newspaper provided details from official police reports citing the use of social networks by some north African migrant communities to encourage their fellows to join them in the square between the Cologne train station and the cathedral, where the now hundreds of incidents of molestation and pick-pocketing took place.
That’s depressing.
I thought this article by Michael Totten was informative. A quote:
Quick follow-up: I am quite sure that he doesn’t include ISIS controlled territories where he said Syria.
(As someone who’s travelled through the Middle East, at least decades ago street harassment was universal there. But it was individual. Never on the mob scale I hear about in North Africa.)
I still am boggling at the New Year’s Eve mobs-of-men attacks on women. These guys are not idiots. They know what the local customs are and that they’re not the same as back home. So there are two possibilities.
1) They could be stupid enough to think it would be a fun thing to do and who cares what Germans think and coordinate it on social media. They could be.
But the great gaping stupidity of that (I’m not talking about the criminality of it. They obviously didn’t care about that.) the great gaping stupidity of it makes me think that the police really need to look at
2) What were the earliest messages that started this particular disgusting ball rolling? Which accounts can they be traced to? Was this really a spontaneous expression of massive misogyny and idiocy? Or was somebody using their massive misogyny and idiocy to alter the refugee calculus in Europe?
I can see two interested parties who could easily do that: Daesh, who likes nothing better than desperate radicalized male refugees. Or possibly European rightwingers who want them all kicked out.
Very sinister. . . depressing and imaginable. But sinister.
quixote,
There’s a third possibility, German women are Kuffars and therefore easy prey, ‘uncovered meat’, after all, the Dhimmi German government has opened its borders to followers of the Prophet.
