True, they are. (Twitter critics pointed out how very white they both look there.) But it’s worth nothing, frankly. I mean it is worth anything, but the complete male monopoly really pisses me off.
After careful study, I realise that I have seen four of them on YouTube, interviewing people. Are they all interviewers? Is that a photomanipulated image, or were they all assembled in a white studio? If so, why?
Assuming them all to be interviewers, why were all the women interviewers excluded from the image? And why (if previous commenters are correct) were the images of the black ones manipulated to make them look white? Why is only one not holding a drink of some kind? And who is Sheldon?
#8…Honestly, being entirely clueless about modern American culture, current events, and media does not strike me as something to be desired. Makes me less likely to think you have anything relevant to say about … well … anything … if you’re that blinkered.
Kevin K #9: unbelieveble as it may sound to you, not everybody here is American. What’s even stranger, there are indeed people in the world who do not watch American late-night tv shows!!!
(But since these total weirdos *certainly* do not have anything relevant to say, who cares! Right, Kevin?)
I still haven’t said. They’re all hosts of the ever-broadening category of late-night tv shows on the major networks. Or the major networks plus Comedy Central.
I’m American. I don’t watch television. I would likely recognize the names of most or all of those men, but I have seen none of their shows except in clips posted in news media I read, and I recognize only a few of the pictures. My lack of familiarity doesn’t bother me a bit.
Thank you for the explanations, Ariel and Ophelia.
As for Kevin K; eh?
I’m sorry, but having spent three days in the USA nearly 13 years ago means I now have to be an expert on USAian late night television? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If I were to show a photograph of Irish TV presenters, would you recognise them? No excuses, now – we have far, far fewer channels than the USA does!
Anyway, I bet I know far, far more about politics in several countries outside of the USA than most USAians know about their own. Isn’t that much more important than obscure TV shows?
Well, not being an American I can identify Conan, Colbert, Oliver and Maher. Enough to make me understand the point being made, albeit through dishonest manipulation: I would have never realized that some of the men depicted were in fact black, if it hadn’t been for Dan’s comment. And concerning the absence of women, yes, I agree: but why were female TV personalities left out? For instance, why is Rachel Maddow not in the picture?
Because it’s not a picture of tv personalities but one of late night tv hosts? I’m guessing. I couldn’t find the provenance of the photo so I have no idea who took it for what purpose.
It’s hard to see with the lighting, but I think two of them (Trevor Noah and Larry Wilmore) are black, for what it’s worth.

Come on, Ophelia, be fair: their ties are all different colors.
Colbert is wearing a plaid suit and Corden has a plaid tie so that’s pretty diverse.
Who are they?
The hosts all wear conservative suits now, too. There was a time when that wasn’t true.
We’re back in the 1950s.
Isn’t that Sheldon’s suit?
Seconding Alethea;

Kevin K #9
Are you joking?
Not knowing who’s who on American television is blinkered?
tiggerthewing, see here.

latsot @ 7 – hahahaha I hadn’t thought of that, and you’re right. A++ for familiarity with US pop culture.
I hope Kevin K was joking @ 9.
It was probably annoying that I didn’t say who they are; apologies. I didn’t because it works only as an instant visual.

Oprah would have been a fit there though, since actually I’m not sure they’re all specifically late night. Most are, but I can’t swear they all are.
Here is a critique of the Vanity Fair article that if the source of the picture.
