Thanks Ophelia! That was fun! That dog learns choreography better than I do (which probably isn’t saying much, but still). I wonder how long the training took? How about a doggy ballet?
The true test: let’s see them try that with a cat….
By coincidence, I just read “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Diaz (recommended) and it mentions the title character dancing the “perrito” as a kid – and here’s the song and an actual perrito – OK, maybe a perro. I guess it was a dance craze/novelty song hit in Latin America.
That was fun. I made the mistake of scrolling down to the comments though: I know the internet is generally notorious for the mindlessness of most comments left, but YouTube is quite remarkable in the astonishing speed at which comments degenerate into idiocy, and why so much blatant homophobia? Sigh.
@Josh I don’t know about others but I do happen to know that you type é into the html to get an é.
Wow! The labrador retriever dancing to the latin music is absolutely amazing! The Merengue. music “El Baila del Perrito,” by Wilfrido Vargas is so uplifting. You can see clearly why this breed of dog is most suited as companions to the blind.
A number of possibilities: exceptional canine behaviour/intelligence; exceptional trick photography; exceptional computer graphics.
Geoff & Ophelia: Castrating a dog has its downside: the interest they lose in sex they also lose in excercise, becoming more docile, slothful and overweight. Labradors are intelligent, but they lie around like a seal on a rock. Very unlikely to turn savage though.
Dogs usually become overweight if their owners feed them too much… Hasn’t happened to our first Labrador, and he gets plenty of excercise, which he appears to enjoy.
More proof that Mexican anchor puppies are taking away jobs from human dancers. Wake up America.

Should I be happy that my soundcard/flash player seems to be on the fritz?
Anyway – I expected meringue, so know I’m disappointed.
In.Cred.Ible, and very happy-making! Sili, I was thinking the same thing – I must have Pake on the brain.
Benjamin – touche. (How do I make diacritical marks here?)

I hear this video is the subject of Marc Hauser’s next book
Dancilicious: Explaining dogs evolved taste for dance

The stupidity of the youtube comment section is notorious:

Steve – haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! That’s funny. Evil, and funny.
All these savvy and well-educated people and nobody mentions the abominable Dr. Johnson’s remarks concerning women writers and dogs.
Extraordinary. And in other news, we’ve just chopped the balls off of our Labrador… See: http://gcoupe.blogspot.com/2010/09/chopped.html
If Sam Johnson had lived in the age of YouTube…how much less abominable he would have been. Unless he’d been another Glen Beck.
V good Geoff; castrated Labs much the best kind!
But is it as much of an earworm as the Macarena Macaronis?

But blind people can’t see the dog dancing!
Weird. This is so wrong, but its wrong in a complicated way.

O/T, but <a href=”http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/197205/Stephen-Hawking-s-god-claims-make-churchmen-laugh”>this</a> is delicious…
Boasting such a tag-team how could theism fail!
Blind people may not be able to see the dog dancing, but they can hear his nails clicking on the floor to the Latin beat.
