Well whaddya know
Oh look, I’m back. That is to say, the database is fixed, thanks to its owner, who fixed it, but prefers to remain anonymous, which makes thanking rather abstract, but you get the idea.
Apologies for the dry spell. Never mind. What with folding up the turkey to re-use next year and making wrapping paper hash, you’ve been too busy to read B&W anyway.
But those days are over – it’s shoulders to the wheel now, and no slacking. New Year’s Eve nothing – that kind of thing is for shallow worldly frivolous flower-sniffers, and I don’t hold with it. I expect a ten-page report on my desk by the end of the day.
Hey, welcome back! Missed ya! Happy New Year!
Same to you, on both counts!
I hope it was a great trip! Looking forward to more B&W in the new year.
Well not a ten-page report, but thanks all the same. The prospect of B&W going silent worried me a bit. I am not a regular commenter, but I nevertheless feel compelled to thank you for your diligence (and, with DGHW, for converting my almost 87-year old grandmother into an “atheist fundamentalist” :-)… what an achievement!!!)… Please keep up the good work, Ophelia. I am almost certain that far more people than regularly comment gain a great deal from B&W, and notes and comments in particular. To a thoughtful, forthright 2009! Cheers!
Been too busy to read B&W? Never! I suffer withdrawal symptoms when you don’t post. I hope you’re fully recharged.
Have just walked a mile or so along the long thick snow-laden road in Camden St, Dublin. Betwixt chiming/pealing sounds emanating from nearby Christchurch Cathedral bells and young people all around me I am in a snowy musical daze. The latter have been showering me with big hugs as well as gentle huge snowflakes touching me softly. To bring me back to sheer reality, there are revellers throwing snow-balls at me as well as everyone else and there are gales of laughter everywhere. I am surely cognisant New Year has descended upon us all. So to all of you @ B&W I heartily greet you with a foretaste of this Dublin fun. “Le gach dea-ghui i gcomhair na nollag agus na h-ath bhliana! “Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh. ”(NO-lihg HO-nuh AH-guhs AH-vlee-ihn fwee WAH-shuh HEEV). (With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year!) For every greeting above, the common response is: “Go mba hé duit” (guh may hay wich) Meaning: “The same to you.” I threw a big snowball high in the air as I neared my abode and wished OB and all her B&W friends a 2010 wish — upon a once in a very blue moon.
Beannachtaí an tSéasúir – Season’s Greetings!
OB: Thank you for sharing your B&W wisdom with us — you have a rare talent in writing.
Really?! That’s cool! I’ve just had an email from an Orthodox guy, in which he said why he reads B&W. I guess I’m not such a narrow church after all.
Thanks Michael and same to you!
Happy New Year!
“… it’s shoulders to the wheel now, and no slacking.”
Aww, those poor butterflies.
Happy New Year – Glad you are back.
Happy New Year and welcome back.
B&W has become a daily habit, recognized by the fact that I missed the updates and your comments for the last week. Glad to hear you’re well and on-line!
Bud
Heh – some cross-posting there. My ‘that’s cool’ was about the 87-year-old fundamentalist atheist.
Excellent about people jonesing for B&W.
I’m online but not a bit well! On the contrary, I have the mother of all colds.
