They should have the right to live as human beings
Pervez Kambaksh is hanging on to his hopes.
“I want an Afghanistan where the mothers of this country and the daughters of this country have the same rights that you and I have as men,” he said in an interview inside the Walayat prison where he has languished since June. “They should have the right to education. They should have the right to work in any organisation they want, and they should have the right to live as human beings in this society.”
They should have the right to live as human beings. Yes they should.
Back atcha, Pervez (if I may – I think of you as a friend). We want an Afghanistan where you have the right to live as a human being too.
President Karzai should listen loud and clear to the succinct mercy plea of Sayed Pervez Kambaksh.
“I am a son of this land and I should have the right to live here freely,”
Yes, you should and so should everyone else – including women, who are just mere chattels of men, in your country.
“Everyone knows I have done nothing wrong. I am asking president Karzai to review my case.”
Yes, they do indeed know that you have done nothing wrong. Neither have the women who are kept in bondage, every day of their lives, at the hands of bullyish fundamentalists
“He is the president”
And he should do something about it NOW. He should also see to women who are mentally, emotionally and psychologically imprisoned in their own homes because they live in a world that is only conducive with the needs of men.
One would think that men created the planet with their own bare hands and therefore women are not allowed to play or hang out of the boys’ creation.
“The constitution gives him the right to pardon me.”
Yeah, if the constitution was any good – it would say that because you are a son of the land, you should be treated as a son of the land. As well as saying to women that they should be treated as daughters of the land.
He is the only one who can save me.”
I reiterate: “President Karzai should listen loud and clear to the succinct mercy plea of Sayed Pervez Kambaksh”
I strongly recommend the piece by Gina Khan ‘Reading Ayaan Hirsi Ali in Birmingham’ at http://www.democratiya.org/review.asp?reviews_id=236
“If the verse doesn’t sit right with us as reasonable or humane, we should reject the verse.”
That is nailing the thesis to the Cathedral door: reformation as a stage along the way towards abandoning the whole pre-Mediaeval, blood-soaked crappy set of prescriptions as to how to live your life.
Be you either male or female.
